Publisher Microids and Awesomenauts Studio have officially revealed the first 10 minutes of gameplay for Garfield - Escape from Monday, the new 3D platforming adventure starring everyone's favorite lasagna-loving feline. The video features the prologue and opening moments of the game's first level, along with the confirmed release date of September 24, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The story premise turns Garfield's hatred of Mondays into a literal nightmare. After eating a spinach lasagna prepared by Jon Arbuckle, the cat falls into a deep sleep and wakes up in a surreal world filled with giant vegetables and sugar-free sweets. To wake up and return to reality, players must guide Garfield through dangerous environments requiring precise jumps, wall runs, rolls, and boss battles across the levels.
Special Costumes Change Gameplay and Introduce Flight Mechanics
Beyond basic 3D platforming movement, Garfield - Escape from Monday relies on themed costumes that directly alter the protagonist's physics and abilities. During the journey, players unlock three main outfits:
- Turkey Costume: allows Garfield to glide through the air to reach distant platforms.
- Surfer Costume: lets him surf across water at high speed.
- Cowboy Costume: gives him a lasso to swing from specific points in the scenery.
The game features three distinct worlds and over 40 levels in total. Throughout the stages, players can collect special items scattered across the map, used to customize and decorate Jon's house in the game's menu.
Classic Characters Confirmed in the Cast
The production brings several beloved characters from the comics and animations to interact with the player. Jon Arbuckle, the dog Odie, girlfriend Arlene, and teddy bear Pooky act as allies, offering support during the adventure. On the flip side, the kitten Nermal and the mouse Squeak appear as antagonists and challenges along the way.
As of now, the publisher has not released details regarding prices on Brazilian digital stores or the inclusion of Brazilian Portuguese dubbing or subtitles. The global release remains scheduled for late September.
